I've quit smoking for 8 months now. I quit back in February of this year and I havn't picked up a cigarette or much less wanted to smoke. Until recently. Something happened in the last 3 weeks. I don't know if it's stress or if I'm being tested spiritually but I have been noticing cigarettes. I notice business men smoking on the street corner. I notice hoodlums smoking at cafes and high-schoolers smoking in front of convenience stores. And I notice that I wish I were smoking with them. I know the negative effects and long-term consequences of smoking: emphysema, cancer of the jaw, lungs and throat, gingivitis, bad breath, shortness of breath, decreased circulation, I know, I know, I know. Which is why I won't smoke. It's a lot easier to pick up a cigarette and START smoking than it is to STOP. So, I'm just going to resist the temptation and hopefully I can set an example for other people in my life who are trying to quit.
